The queen of shock was undoubtedly Divine, the drag legend immortalised in numerous John Waters films, and on Friday September 12th The Electric Cinema’s cult collective Shock & Gore celebrates her trash-tastic legacy with A Divine Evening, featuring screenings of two John Waters cult classics and a live drag queen compere.
Opening with the 1974 cult favourite ‘Female Trouble’, featuring Divine as troublemaker runaway Dawn Davenport, who ends up a fashion model for a pair of beauticians who photograph women whilst they commit crimes.
Then, after our compere will dishes out some acidic one liners, we launch into a rare Odorama screening of Waters’ 1981 comedy drama ‘Polyester’, starring Divine as an unhappy housewife dealing with a dysfunctional family, with each audience member given their very own scratch ‘n’ sniff card to use at specific points during the film.
The night begins at 8.30pm, prices ranging between £9.50 and £18.50.
